2.2       Overview of TCP/IP Model
First
proposed
by
Department
of
Defense
(DoD)
in
1970s,
TCP/IP
model
is
design
to
meet the expectation of DoD to create such a network that can survive at any conditions.
That’s
why
TCP/IP
original
intent
focused
to
the
Internet
connection
that
runs
on
the
ARPANET which some people recognize as the “mother” of Internet [5].
Figure 2.2: TCP/IP
Model
Layer [4]
It has four main layers that can be seen in figure 2.2, the four main layers are: application
layer,
transport
layer,
internet
layer,
and
network
access
layer.
There are
similarities
and
differences
between
names
and
functionality
between
OSI
layer
and
TCP/IP
layer.
In
order to
get to know
more about TCP/IP
model
layer,
let
us see the functionality of each
layer more detail.
