and
Beverage Industry (Industry
Sector Analysis,1997).
According to author Utari Ninghadiyati, Jakarta food and beverage location can be
divided
into
the
five
Jakarta regions.
In
the
North
of
Jakarta,
Kelapa
Gading
area
is
known to be the largest and most popular culinary center. Every corner of the street to
inside shopping
malls
is packed
with a diverse
menu of restaurants, ranging
from local
cuisine to international dishes. Other restaurants and cafes are also found in the Sunter
and
Pluit
areas.
Now,
the
West
Jakarta
is the
known
as
the
old
China
Town,
the
area
presents many food vendors with a variety of interesting dishes. Although the place
consists
of
old
and
simple
street
vendor,
buyers
remained
faithful
to come
to
the
place
hence, particularly
Glodok area and
in Jalan Panjang.
Next,
the Central Jakarta presents
the central office area, building offices or shop complexes covers almost all the region.
In between the buildings and residential areas can be found delicious regional dishes.
Kebon
Kacang
and
Tanah
Abang
provide
plenty of
food
varieties.
Menteng
also
offers
many selections of places to eat. Compared to the five regions, East Jakarta is not as
vibrant as other areas. Food vendors are only concentrated in a few location and streets
corner. Most crowed restaurants are likely encounter is Rawahmangun area. Other food
vendors can also be seen
in streets Martraman Raya. Finally, South Jakarta
is known to
have
the
most
diverse
restaurants,
cafes
and
street
vendors.
