INTRODUCTION
Mattress is a large pad for supporting the reclining body, used as or on a bed,
consisting of a quilted or similarly fastened case, usually of heavy cloth, that contains
hair, straw, cotton, foam rubber, etc., or a framework of metal springs. Mattress right
now is one of the most common things
that needed in most houses in the world.
Nearly all of bedroom in medium-income and higher people have it.
Right now, we have many type and size of mattresses, which give more
options for customers to choose. Generally, the size of mattress can be divided into
two styles: U.S./Canada (from 69cm x 131 cm to 213 cm x 213cm) and U.K. (from
70cm x 140cm to 183cm x 198cm). The mattress
has different types, which are
innerspring mattresses, latex foam mattresses, and memory foam mattresses. The
difference between those types of mattress is the materials used inside of it.
American Pillo Spring Bed originally established as a small home industry
that produced sponge or foam bed and divan located in Surabaya in 1986. Two years
after that (1988), the company decided to change its legal status in limited company
with the name PT Dynasti IndoMegah. To increase the market range, company built
several factories in strategic location, such as Bali, Jakarta, Semarang, Makassar, and
Pekanbaru.
On
Sumatera Island, PT Dynasti IndoMegah has two factories to supply
demand in that area. The reason PT Dynasti IndoMegah established two factories in
Sumatra because it is one of the big island and the growth rate in terms of population
and income is increasing steadily. The population in Sumatra has increased 2.38% on
average, while Indonesia overall increased 1.49% on average in past ten years. The
factories are centralized in the Riau region
(Pekanbaru and
Batam) because it is
located at the center of Sumatra Island and make it easy to distribute the products to
other region.
In Pekanbaru, the factory, PT Indosiak Permai, is located in Jl. Pasir Putih
KM 2.5 78, Kampar, Riau. The factory produces several products with innerspring
type. The data provided by company shows declining sales in the past two years. The
