Pengertian Enterprise Architecture
Menurut Bernard (2005: 31)
enterprise architecture
(EA) adalah analisis dan
dokumentasi dari sebuah perusahaan pada saat ini dan masa depan dilihat dari perspektif
strategi, bisnis, dan teknologi yang saling terintegrasi.
Enterprise Architecture = Strategy + Business + Technology

Menurut Tamm, Seddon, Shanks, dan Reynolds di dalam jurnal Communications of
the Association for Information Systems. (2011: 142) “Enterprise architecture (EA) is the
definition and representation of a high-level view of an enterprise‘s business processes and IT
systems, their interrelationships, and the extent to which these processes and systems are
shared by different parts of the enterprise. The primary goal of EA is to define the desirable
future state of the organisation‘s business processes and IT systems (often referred to as the
“to-be” or target architecture) and to provide a roadmap for achieving this target from the
current state (“as-is” or baseline architecture). Two key components of EA are the planning
process (“definition”), and the direct and tangible outputs of that planning
process
(“representation”), i.e., EA documentation (e.g., architecture diagrams, roadmaps, and other
artefacts)”.

EA sebagai sebuah Metode Dokumentasi
Menurut Bernard (2005: 37) dokumentasi EA diselesaikan melalui enam elemen
dasar berikut ini: (1) EA documentation framework, dan (2) components
yang mendukung
pembuatan dari (3) current
dan (4) future views
dari arsitektur, begitu juga pengembangan
dari (5) EA Management Plan
untuk mengelola transisi perusahaan dari keadaan saat ini ke
arsitektur masa depan. Terdapat juga beberapa area yang umum pada semua tingkatan dari
framework yang dikenal sebagai (6) “threads” seperti ditunjukkan pada gambar 2.1.
