perbandingan yang sama antar tiap bagian dan keseluruhannya sehingga tercapai
suatu sistem yan g seimbang (kerap disebut Golden Section), maka pembuatan
elemen-elemen sebuah temple pun sewajarnya didasari pada perbandingan tersebut.
“… if Nature has composed the human body so that in its proportions the
separate individual elements answer to the total form, then the ancients seem to have
had reason to decide that bringing their creations to full completion likewise
required a correspondence between the measure of individual elements and the
appearance of the work as a whole. …
They did so especially for the sacred
dwellings of the gods.” (Vitruvius, 30-20 B.C .)
Proporsi tersebut diterapkan antara lain pada jarak antar kolom
(intercolumniation), yan g diatur harus seragam, memenuhi sepersekian kali dari
diameter kolomn ya. Jarak sepersekian tersebut bervariasi besarnya, tergantung pada
spesi temple yang dibangun: pycnostyle, systyle, diastyle, araeostyle, atau eustyle.
