2.2  Theoretical Framework
The theoretical framework used by the author in this thesis is based from the final
version of TAM (Davis & Venkatesh, 1995). With several modification and
additional external variables are added to TAM to build a context for online fps
genre and get a better understanding of motivation that lead to the acceptance of
online fps games. The additional variables are Perceived Critical Mass, Perceived
Enjoyment, and Perceived Economic Value.
Perceived Usefulness is previously defined as “the degree to which a person
believes that using a particular system would enhance his or her job performance”
(Davis, 1989). In this research perceived usefulness are modified to online fps game
context and used with different approach. According to a previous studies done by
(Klug & Schell, 2006), and (Yee, 2006) one of the main components of online game
motives is achievement and so will influence attitude of online fps game and
intention to use online fps game itself.
