was in part an outgrowth of management issues raised in January and in recognition of
just
how
important
inspired
management
is
in
the
world of
rapid
change
in
today's
library
environment.
Fisher
noted that
many
librarians
have
been
promoted
into
positions with management components without ever having any real formal training (or
experience) in managing per se. Many excellent professional
librarians are promoted to
management-level positions simply because they are very good at their job, not
necessarily because they are good at managing.
