Child labor is a complex social and political issues with a long and envolving
history
..Poverty is recognized as the major reason for child labor. The
economic gain from the labor of children can be vital to the survival of all
family members in the poorest of families.
(Schmitz, Traver, Larson, 2004,
p.1-3)
Economic situation is the reason why children should work and try to
produce money to fulfill their daily needs. Poverty strengthens the reason for
children to work. This condition decreases adults income and push children to
work to get more income. The effect to children is, they do not have time to play
and enjoy their young age like normal ones whose parents have enough money to
fulfill the needs of the family members.
Having possession causes children leave their life to go to school and to
gain knowledge. This makes working children feel better to find money rather
than to attend the school which does not produce money to them.
Children from the lower classes are less likely to receive an education.
In
some countries families cannot afford to educate all of their children, so they
decide which children will attend school and which will work to help support
the family. (Schmitz, Traver, & Larson, 2004, p.6)
The economic problem such as poverty is the factor why children have to
work. In some countries, there are families who cannot send all of their children
to school. They must choose who can go to school and who must work to help
and to support the family economy. Actually, this condition is not fair for
children. The injustice of parents decision to their children will create jealousy
in children feeling and may create the worst future to them.
Children who do not go to school have poor knowledge and they will stop
just in the same condition and cannot get better place in their jobs. They could
not get into higher position and get well payment from the place they work. This
