CHAPTER 2
THEORETICAL FOUNDATION
2.1 Theoretical Foundation
The theoretical foundation describes all the theories used in developing this system.
There are several items to be explained in this section.
2.1.1 Flow Chart
A flowchart is a pictographic representation showing all the steps of a process. [4].
A
Flowchart, according to Whitten [4], is used for:
1. Defining and analyzing processes (example: What is the registration process for
entering freshmen students?)
2. Building a step-by-step picture of the process for analysis, discussion, or
communication purposes (example: Is it possible to shorten the length of time it
takes for a student to complete the program?)
3. Defining, standardizing, or finding areas for improvement in a process
2.1.2 Use Case
Use case is a sequence of steps defining the behaviors of the system whether it is
automated or manual. There are several aspects of use case which is explained below.
