2.1.5.1 Mobile Operating Systems
When a mobile phone runs with an operating system, it is
called as a smartphone.There are several mobile operating
systems, which include:
a.
Android
According to Masoud (2012:405), Android is a
Linux-based operating
system designed primarily
for touchscreen mobile devices such as
smartphones and tablet computers, developed by
Google in conjunction with the Open Handset
Alliance. Android has a large community of
developers writing applications that extend the
functionality of devices.
b.
Mac OS X
According to Masoud (2012:405), iOS is a mobile
operating system developed and distribute by
Apple Inc. Originaly released in 2007 for the
iPhone and iPod Touch, it has been extended to
support other Apple devices such as the iPad and
Apple TV. iOS is Apples mobile version of the OS
X operating system used on Apple computers.
c.
Blackberry
According to Masoud (2012:404), Blackberry is a
line of phone devices developed, modified, and
designed by Research in Motion (RIM). Blackberry
devices are smartphones, which are known for its
ability to send and receive push email and instant
messages while maintaining a high level of security
through on-device message encryption.
