Materiality
Before people found money, they had done barter things such as
vegetable, cloths, and jewelry with their neighbor. This system could not stand
longer because when people did barter, they could not reach the deal because the
things of that person barter were not as equal as what the other person wanted.
This system was not really effective until money existed and everything had their
price when money was found. It made people easier to do a transaction in
trading.
This more inclusive redefinition of design will be used to frame the discussion
within the culture/nature framework that distinguishes cultural artefact, such
as chairs, from natural things like trees." (Attfield, 2000, p.13)
Materiality is the design that people used to create an object which is
useful for them. The objects or things that human produced, come from nature
and they reproduce them into other forms. People depend on them and they work
or live for these things.
The history of materiality has appeared since Marxism theory learned
about people behavior trough the things surround them and the way to reach
those things. Marx as the first philosopher of this theory summed up the basic or
foundation from materiality history. He said that people will not realize where
they are or what they are but they will realize the social existence they have
without someone has to tell them so. In conclusion, Marx learned that people
never know who they are or what they are going to do if there are no social
interactions which relate to materiality. The economic side already makes people
only realize that they have power, property, and status. From all of them, they
