The Bourgeoisie keeps more and more doing away with the scattered state of
the population, of the mean of production, and of property
..
Subjection of
Natures forces to man, machinery, application of chemistry to industry and
agriculture, steam-navigation, railways, electric telegraphs, clearing of whole
continents for cultivation, canalization of river, whole populations conjured out
of the ground. (Marx and Engels, 2003, p.5)
Then, Bourgeoisies idea is to understand the class differences by looking
at the people, material object, and also the property. It creates changes and
increases the population, production and any kind of property. It can be seen
from the peoples effort in cultivating the nature. For example, they created
machinery, application of chemistry to industry and agriculture, steam-
navigation, railways, electric telegraphs, clearing of whole continents for
cultivation, and canalization of river. All of these objects refer to the land or
place that they live and they can get all of the goods from it. Their status also
valued by these objects or wealth.
Pierre Bourdieu also talked about the relation between social classes and
the power of struggle as follows:
Status groups, however, are defined by the distance they are able to establish
from the underlying class situation
..the relationship between social class
and status, permits Bourdieu to intergrate culture, taste, and lifestyle indicators
into a social-class framework. (Swartz, 1997, p.151)
The group of people status can be identified from their differences that
appeared clearly in order to characterize their class situation. The connection
between class and status made Bourdieu classify them from their culture, taste
and lifestyle as the measurement of their social-class framework.
Bourdieu said that the social class can be seen from something existing in
the group life as their characteristic. This is made easier to classify
them as a
group from their culture, taste and lifestyle because it is the clear information
