2.2 Theoretical framework
This is the list and definition of methods that will be used thoroughly in the preceding
chapters.
2.2.1 System Development Life Cycle
The
system development life cycle
(SDLC)
is
the
process
of
understanding
how
an
information
system
(IS)
can
support
business
needs,
designing
the
system,
building
it
and delivering it to users.
The System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) is the process by which the organization
moves
from
the current system
(often called the as- is system)
to
the
new system (often
called the to-be system) [13].
The
SDLC
has
similar
set
of
four
fundamental phases :
planning,
analysis,
design,
and
implementation.
Planning phase
The
primary
objectives
of
the
planning
phase
are
to
identify
the
scope
of
the
new
system, ensure that the project is feasible, and develop a schedule, resource plan, and
budget for the remainder of the project.
The most important activity of the planning phase is to define precisely
the business
problem and the scope of the required solution [14].
